Week 25

Gee, I guess I am a little behind on the blog. Sorry about that. May is just flying by!
Work continues to be non-stop. I know that I keep saying that I need to slow down but I am finding it very hard to give up my workaholic ways. I have stopped picking up the kids and have stopped moving furniture but I am still working long hours. I keep saying that it will get better and it slowly has but it won't stop till the kids are out of school.

Anyways enough about work. We have taken down the bed in the spare room and have ordered the crib. It should be here in about two weeks. We have also finish our baby registries too. Looking at our house right now you would think that we have a few babies that live here. Jeff's cousins have given us some of their baby items from their kids. This stuff will work out great for the grandparents!

Joe has been moving around more and more. We have now been able to see my stomach move when he kicks. It's nice that Jeff has witnessed it too. Most of the time he thinks I am prego crazy and am making things up as I go.

Over the holiday week Jeff and I played 9 holes of golf at Phalen. We had a lot of fun. It was nice just to be together alone....well kinda alone. ;0) I am really working hard at staying busy but I have to say that sleeping at night isn't the best. We have a really poopy mattress and my husband is too cheap to buy a new one. ( we have been battling this for about a year now)
I also am starting to have shortness of breath when I really get moving. This freaks me out because it almost feel like my child hood asthma is coming back. I don't have any wheezing and I can regain normal breathing if I slow down a little bit.

Head to heels, Joe now measures about 13 1/2 inches. His weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but he's beginning to exchange his long, lean look for some baby fat. As he does, his wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and he'll start to look more and more like a newborn. His hair is probably recognizable now (in color and texture), although both may change after he's born.

Jeff Moment

It is nice to see that Jeff is getting more and more comfortable around babies. He is even will to hold Jace ( Ramar & Courtnee's 5 month old son). He does great. However , the one thing that he is worried about and I won't lie I am to is how he will do during delivery. Yes, we are going to our " Delivery Class" but I am worried that he is going to pass out or better yet freak out. Anyone have any advice for poor old Jeff?

+++ Pictures above are of Jeff and I at a wedding we were at on 5-23-08 and for course the wonderful speed bump pictures. Moose Man had to get into one of the pics because he like to hug the baby now. Also please note that I do own normal pants but I prefer Jeff's fanel pants once I come home because prego pants suck to wear.

Week 23

We went to the doctor yesterday. Everything seems to be going well. I have only gained 2 pounds since my last visit. Which means the weight that I have been gaining is just baby!
This really made me happy because I have been really trying to make good choices when I eat.

Although, yesterday I did have cake and cheese cake. But it was my birthday so I had to celebrate it some how.

We will be going back on June 9th. Then my doctor wants to do another ultra sound to look at a couple of things that they were not able to see during week 19. She wants to see his face head on and a shot of his stomach. These are things that she is not too worried about otherwise we would have has an ultra sound yesterday.

It was a nice day. I worked a half day yesterday, went to the doctor, and spent time with Jeff.
We also started out baby registry at Babies R Us. I am planning on registering at Target as well but am won't drag Jeff through that. He was a trooper but I think the thought off all the stuff you"need" tends to freak him out.

The baby's room is moving along nicely. I think this weekend we will be able to move the bed and the desk out. Jeff will be making a trip to the dump too. We have really been trying to get rid of old stuff that has been just sitting around. We are still finding stuff from when his grandma and grandpa lived here.

Baby Stuff
Joe is more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango). His skin is red and wrinkled. Blood vessels in his lungs are developing to prepare him for breathing. He can swallow, but he normally won't pass his first stool (called meconium) until after birth. Loud noises heard often in utero — such as your dog barking or the roar of a vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze your baby when he hears them outside the womb.

Moose Moment
Poor Moose Man. Things are changing and he is on to it. Now that he is a little older we are trying to give him more freedom. Which means no more kennel when we are gone. For a while he seemed very happy with his new freedom or responsibility as I like to call it but he know that there is something going on with Mom. Not sure what but he is grumpy. He can't sit in my lap at night and he can't figure out why when he snuggles with me at bed time why he can't get comfy with that big tummy in the way. So he is trying new tactics to be close to his mommy and trying to avoid his found freedom. Take a look at the pic above.

Creation

I think this is just so cool. It amazes me that all this is going on inside of me.
All because two people fell in love.

Week 22

We have been in a bit of a health kick at the Schmidt house. Jeff is training for a 45 mile bike ride for MS on May 31st. So he has been biking and walking like crazy. Which means that he wants me to go with him. I try to keep up as best I can but I put my foot down biking 20 miles or waking up at 6 AM to go for a walk.

This weekend Chas and Jeff biked 20 miles while Kelly, Travis and I did about 5 miles. Picture me riding a bike. hehehe. I don't feel like I am over doing it in fact I feel great! Plus I am getting a mile walk to a mile in a half walk in about every other day.

Jeff and I have been watching what we are eating and trying our best to cut pop out of our diet. Jeff has been better at that then me. I still want a Cherry Pepsi every now and then. With all the health stuff going on Jeff has lost a few pounds. I am hapy for him but this is not what you want to hear from your husband while you are gaining wieght. It doesn't make me feel that great. So we have decided that we won't share that info with each other.

Joe's room is coming along nicely. One more Sunday of cleaning and I think we will be ready for that crib. I have a few small decor projects that are in the works too. So I am hoping that his room will be ready by the begining of June.

This coming week will be another crazy one at work. But I am hoping to slow down after this week. May is crazy both at KC and home. We have birthdays, a wedding shower, wedding, graduation and of course Mother's Day to celeberate this month. I was looking at our calendar and we are booked every Sat. in May. Poof just like that your month is gone.

Joe now looks like a miniature newborn, checking in at 10.9 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound. His skin will continue to appear wrinkled until he gains enough weight to fill it out, and the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his head and body is now visible. His lips are becoming more distinct, and the first signs of teeth are appearing as buds beneath his gum line. Her eyes are developed, though the iris (the colored part of the eye) still lacks pigment. Eyelids and eyebrows are in place, and his pancreas, essential for hormone production, is developing steadily.
